The existing pond was losing water, contained a substantial build-up of silt and had become dominated by marginal growth. Its shallow profile and damaged liner limited what could be achieved through maintenance alone.
The project therefore became a full restoration: drain down, remove accumulated material, assess the underlying form, reshape the pond, install a new liner and rebuild the visible margins and habitat structure.

Restoration approach
Strip back far enough to rebuild properly
The pond was drained and cleared so the actual structure could be assessed. The profile was then reshaped before the new water-retaining system, marginal shelves, stone and habitat details were brought back together.
Drain down and expose the problem
Silt and organic material were removed so the liner, levels and underlying form could be understood.
Recover depth and useful margins
The pond profile was rebuilt with clearer depth changes and defined areas for planting and access.
Install a new liner system
A new liner provided the dependable water-retaining structure needed before the visible edges were finished.
