What happens to fish and wildlife during the work?
The approach will depend on what is present. This may include temporary holding facilities, phased working, retaining refuge areas or carrying out work at a more appropriate time of year.
Can the removed silt remain on my land?
Yes. Wherever practical, it is usually best to retain suitable silt on the property, as close to the pond or lake as safely possible. It should be placed in a stable area where it can drain and dry without washing back into the pond, a ditch, stream or other watercourse.
Can you take all the silt away?
Potentially, but transporting wet sediment can be expensive. Off-site removal must be assessed and specifically included within the quotation.
Can desilting repair a leaking pond?
Not by itself. Removing silt may expose the source of a leak, such as damaged clay, a failed liner, animal damage, a leaking pipe or an issue around an outlet. Repair options can then be assessed.
Can you repair the inlet or outlet at the same time?
Yes. We can assess blocked pipes, overflows, sluices, monks and eroded inlet channels as part of the wider restoration project.
Do you work on farm and estate ponds?
Yes. Farm ponds, estate lakes and larger landowner projects are a central focus of this service.
Can you restore a pond that has become completely overgrown?
Usually, provided suitable access and water management are available. In some cases, phased clearance is preferable to complete removal of all vegetation at once.

Large or complex desilting projects normally require a paid site assessment. We will first review photographs, dimensions, access information and the project description to determine whether a visit is appropriate.
How far do you travel?
