River habitat delivery: fish refuges, backwaters and connected wetlands
For Rivers Trusts, catchment partnerships, estates and funded conservation programmes, we can also help develop and deliver fish-refuge and river-backwater habitat. These schemes can create quieter water, high-flow shelter, nursery habitat, damp margins and stronger connections between the river and its floodplain without placing a conventional pond across the main channel.
Our role can include early buildability input, site assessment, levels and access planning, earthworks, habitat structure, marginal planting and practical aftercare. Do you only work in Devon and Cornwall?
Our main pond and wetland creation work is within roughly 1.5 hours of Dartmoor (Devon and Cornwall). For high-impact or multi-site habitat creation projects elsewhere in the South West, we’re happy to discuss options.
Can you help with wetland creation as part of a wider river or catchment project?
