OASE Lake Treatments for Lakes & Large Ponds

Professional Water Management by Sasaquatics

The Balance Beneath the Surface

Healthy lakes and large ponds rely on a natural balance between water chemistry, plants, and oxygen. When that balance slips — through nutrient build-up, algae growth, or sludge accumulation — the entire ecosystem suffers. Water turns green, oxygen drops, and plants or fish can die back.

At Sasaquatics, we specialise in restoring that equilibrium. Using OASE Lake Therapy products — safe, non-toxic and biologically active treatments — we help clients across Devon and the South West restore clarity, health, and resilience to their waterbodies.

Whether you manage an estate lake, a wildlife pond, or a recreational fishery, the right treatments can transform the water while keeping the environment safe for plants, invertebrates, and wildlife.

How We Work

We offer two routes:

  1. Supply Only – You send us details and clear photographs of your lake or pond, including approximate dimensions and water condition (clarity, weed type, odour, depth, and fish presence). We recommend the appropriate OASE treatment and ship directly to your address with full instructions.

  2. Professional Maintenance Service – Our team carries out water testing, applies the products on-site, and monitors results through the season.

We don’t offer free consultations — but accurate advice begins with good information.
Send photos, site address, and approximate volume or surface area so we can recommend the correct treatment and dosage.

OASE LAKE THERAPY RANGE

All OASE Lake Therapy products are biologically safe and designed for long-term water health. They contain no harmful chemicals and are safe for aquatic plants, fish, pets, birds, and amphibians (except certain sturgeon species in high doses).

OASE OptiLake – pH and Carbonate Hardness Stabiliser

Purpose:

OptiLake maintains a stable pH and carbonate hardness (KH) in lakes and large ponds. Sudden swings in pH can stress fish, suppress beneficial bacteria, and trigger algal blooms.

How It Works:

OptiLake contains a balanced mineral buffer that stabilises pH between 7.5 and 8.5 and raises carbonate hardness to a healthy range. This gives aquatic microorganisms and plants the environment they need to function properly. It forms the foundation of all other treatments — without stable water chemistry, no biological process can work efficiently.

Typical Dosage:

OASE SeDox – Phosphate Binder

Purpose:

Phosphates fuel algae growth. SeDox locks up free phosphate in the water and sediment, cutting off algae’s primary food source.

How It Works:

SeDox uses a mineral binding process to permanently trap phosphates in a crystalline form that plants and algae cannot access. Over time, it starves blanket weed and green water algae, restoring natural balance without chemical algicides.

Typical Dosage:

OASE SeDox Speed – Rapid Phosphate Reduction

Purpose:

A faster-acting version of SeDox, designed for lakes facing acute algae blooms or emergency nutrient surges after runoff events or warm spells.

How It Works:

SeDox Speed reacts quickly with dissolved phosphates, producing immediate improvements in clarity and oxygen exchange. It is ideal for one-off applications to reset a waterbody before introducing longer-term management.

Typical Dosage:

OASE SchlixX – Sludge and Sediment Digester

Purpose:

Over time, organic matter (leaves, silt, fish waste) builds up on the lakebed, releasing nutrients and creating odours. SchlixX accelerates natural decomposition to reduce sludge depth and nutrient recycling.

How It Works:

SchlixX combines oxygen-releasing minerals with beneficial bacteria that feed on organic sediments. As it reacts, it releases oxygen directly into the lakebed, supporting aerobic microbes and breaking down sludge into harmless gas and mineral residue.

Typical Dosage:

OASE SchlixX Plus – Enhanced Sludge Remediation

Purpose:

For lakes with severe organic loading or long-term neglect, SchlixX Plus delivers a stronger bacterial culture and higher oxygen release capacity.

How It Works:

It restores the natural sediment balance and reduces nutrient leaching from the bottom layers — stopping the cycle of algae growth at its source. It also helps reduce odour and toxic gas build-up, improving habitat for fish and macroinvertebrates.

Typical Dosage:

OASE ClearLake – Biological Clarifier

Purpose:

To restore transparency in turbid, cloudy lakes affected by fine suspended particles or bacterial imbalance.

How It Works:

ClearLake contains a blend of beneficial bacteria that metabolise excess ammonia, nitrites, and organic waste suspended in the water column. It supports natural flocculation (the clumping of fine particles), allowing sediment to settle.

Typical Dosage:

OASE PeriDox – Oxygen Booster and Parasite Control

Purpose:

PeriDox boosts dissolved oxygen and naturally reduces fish parasite populations, promoting healthier aquatic life.

How It Works:

When applied, PeriDox releases active oxygen into the water, breaking down organic material and interrupting parasite life cycles without harmful residues. It’s particularly useful in warm, stagnant water conditions or during heavy organic load periods.

Typical Dosage:

OASE AlgoShield – Algae Prevention and Control

Purpose:

AlgoShield is a long-term algae preventative that keeps string algae and floating mats under control.

How It Works:

It supports beneficial microorganisms that outcompete algae for nutrients, while releasing trace elements that enhance plant health. It does not kill algae chemically — instead, it stabilises the ecosystem so algae fail to dominate.

Typical Dosage:

Safety and Ecological Integrity

All OASE Lake Therapy treatments are non-toxic and biodegradable. They contain no copper, formaldehyde, or synthetic algicides.
They work with natural processes — oxygenation, mineral binding, and bacterial digestion — to bring lakes back into balance without harming fish, amphibians, birds, or aquatic plants.

Healthy lakes depend on an integrated approach:

Are OASE Lake Treatments safe for fish, plants, and wildlife?

Yes. Every OASE Lake Therapy product we use and supply is non-toxic and biologically safe. They contain no copper, formaldehyde, or synthetic algaecides. When used at the correct dosage, they support beneficial bacteria, plant growth, and healthy fish populations. We regularly use these treatments in wildlife ponds, ornamental lakes, and estate water features with amphibians, birds, and pets present.

Can I apply the treatments myself?

Absolutely. We can supply OASE treatments directly to your address, along with dosage guidance and application instructions. For larger or more complex waterbodies, we also offer a professional application and monitoring service. You’ll just need to send us clear photos, your pond or lake dimensions, and details of the problem (for example, algae bloom, sludge build-up, or cloudy water).

How do I know which product to use?

Different issues need different treatments. For example:

Green or algae-filled water → OASE SeDox or SeDox Speed

Heavy sludge build-up → OASE SchlixX or SchlixX Plus

pH imbalance or unstable water chemistry → OASE OptiLake

Cloudy or turbid water → OASE ClearLake

Low oxygen or fish stress → OASE PeriDox
If you’re unsure, email us with your lake size, water condition, and photos. We’ll recommend the correct combination and dosage.

How often should treatments be applied?

Most lakes benefit from two to four applications per year, depending on size, depth, and nutrient load.

Spring: stabilise pH and hardness with OptiLake.

Early summer: apply SeDox or SchlixX to bind phosphates and reduce sludge.

Mid-season: use ClearLake or AlgoShield to maintain clarity and algae prevention.

Autumn: follow up with SchlixX Plus to clean sediment before winter.

We can create a tailored seasonal schedule for your site.

Do OASE products harm aquatic plants or beneficial bacteria?

No. OASE Lake Therapy is designed to work with natural biological processes. Treatments like OptiLake and SeDox actually help plants by stabilising water chemistry, while bacterial products such as SchlixX and ClearLake enhance beneficial microbial activity. Healthy aquatic vegetation is essential for balance — these products help it flourish.

What happens if I overdose or underdose the treatment?

Underdosing will simply slow the results. Overdosing rarely harms wildlife but can temporarily cloud the water or alter pH. Always follow dosage guidelines or contact Sasaquatics for personalised advice before use. We provide dosing charts and instructions with every supply order.

How long before I see results?

Results vary depending on the issue and water temperature.

Clarity improvements can appear within 7–14 days after SeDox or ClearLake.

Sludge reduction through SchlixX products is typically visible within 4–6 weeks.

Full ecosystem balance may take an entire season — especially in larger or historically polluted lakes.

Our team monitors treated sites and offers follow-up advice to maintain improvements.

Do I need to switch off pumps or aerators when applying treatments?

Generally no. Gentle circulation actually helps distribute products evenly. For very fine powders like SeDox, turn off high-pressure fountains or jets for 1–2 hours after application to prevent dispersion losses. Normal aeration can continue throughout.

Can these treatments fix long-term algae problems permanently?

Yes — but only when combined with proper nutrient and habitat management. OASE products tackle the causes (phosphate, sludge, oxygen deficit), not just the symptoms. We often pair treatments with vegetation planning, sediment removal, or light reshaping to achieve lasting results.

What information do you need before supplying or quoting?

Please provide:

Site name and location

Approximate surface area and average depth

Any inflow/outflow details (stream, spring, culvert)

Description of issues (algae, smell, sludge, fish stress)

3–5 photos of the site

Email these details to info@sasaquatics.com
, and we’ll recommend the best OASE products and dosage for your waterbody.

Do you offer on-site visits or free consultations?

We don’t offer free visits. To keep our services efficient and focused, we ask clients to send photos and information first. After assessing your situation remotely, we can quote for supply-only or full on-site application and monitoring services.

How soon can treatments be shipped?

Once we confirm the correct products and dosage, Some treatments are available for next day delivery. Delivery is available nationally. Please contact us for more information.

Do I need any special equipment to apply OASE products?

Most products can be broadcast by hand, from a boat, or using a simple scoop or spreader. Larger lakes may benefit from a granular applicator or sprayer, which we can supply or hire. Detailed instructions are provided with each order.

Will my lake need regular treatments forever?

Not necessarily. Once nutrient and sludge levels stabilise, you can move to annual or biannual maintenance doses. Long-term balance comes from combining OASE biological treatments with good ecological management — native planting, aeration, and reduced nutrient input.

Can you integrate OASE treatments into wider rewilding or habitat projects?

Yes. Many of our rewilding and wetland restoration projects begin with a water-quality reset using OASE products. These treatments complement natural solutions — reed planting, sediment control, and hydrological restoration — to create stable, self-regulating ecosystems.
